Is same-day clearing enabled appropriately? – MCG’s MIPster the Tipster™

Same-Day Clearing Is Powerful When the Bank Is Ready for It

Same-day clearing changes how quickly money actually moves. In MIP®, enabling the Same Day Clearing option allows an ACH file to settle on the same day rather than waiting the standard two banking days. When the bank supports it, this can materially shorten payment cycles.

This matters most for time-sensitive disbursements. Vendors get paid sooner. Deadlines are easier to meet. Cash timing becomes more predictable. When it works, it works because the bank’s infrastructure is built to accept and process same-day files without exception.

The detail that matters is bank support. Same-day clearing is not a universal default, and enabling it without confirmation can lead to rejected files or delayed settlements. The setting should match what the bank has explicitly approved, not what seems convenient at the moment.

This video is for accounting teams that manage ACH payments and occasionally need faster settlement without introducing risk. It is not intended for organizations that assume faster options are always available without verifying bank requirements.

McGovern Consulting Group provides MIP Accounting® Training and Implementation Services. We focus on payment configuration because speed only helps when reliability stays intact.
