Are you saving often during Bank Rec? – MCG’s MIPster the Tipster™

Cleared Items Are Not Saved Until You Tell MIP to Save Them

The bank reconciliation grid in MIP® does not autosave cleared marks. Clearing checks or deposits updates what you see on screen, but nothing is committed until Save is clicked. If you navigate away or time out before saving, those cleared items are lost and the work has to be redone.

This usually shows up after clearing a large batch. Checks are marked. Deposits are marked. Everything looks right. Then the screen refreshes and the reconciliation is suddenly back where it started. The system did exactly what it was told, which was nothing, because Save never happened.

Saving after major sections reduces this risk. Clearing checks and saving, then clearing deposits and saving, keeps progress intact and limits rework if something interrupts the session. It also makes it easier to retrace steps if a review question comes up later.

This video is for accounting teams that reconcile regularly and want their work to stay done once it is done. It is not intended for organizations that are comfortable repeating reconciliation steps because of missed saves.

McGovern Consulting Group provides MIP Accounting® Training and Implementation Services. We focus on day-to-day system behavior because small habits like this determine whether reconciliations move forward or stall.

If you want fewer do-overs and smoother reconciliations, schedule time with us to review how your team works in MIP.
