Are you copying worksheets to save time? – MCG’s MIPster the Tipster™

Copying a Budget Worksheet Preserves Structure and Saves Time

Budget setup does not need to start from a blank screen every year. In MIP®, an existing Budget Worksheet can be copied and reused as a template for a new year or a new scenario. From the worksheet list, you select Copy, rename it, and then adjust amounts as needed.

This approach preserves the account structure, segments, and layout that already work. It reduces setup time, lowers the risk of missing accounts, and keeps budgets consistent across years. Instead of rebuilding the framework, effort is spent reviewing assumptions and making intentional changes where conditions have shifted.

Copied worksheets are especially useful when planning scenarios or revisions. The baseline stays intact, and changes are easier to track because the structure does not move underneath the numbers.

This video is for finance teams that want budgeting to move faster without sacrificing accuracy or consistency. It is not intended for organizations that rebuild worksheets manually each cycle and troubleshoot omissions later.

McGovern Consulting Group provides MIP Accounting® Training and Implementation Services. We focus on practical workflow choices like this because efficiency in budgeting usually comes from reusing what already works.

If you want to shorten budget setup time and reduce avoidable errors, schedule time with us to review how your worksheets are structured.
