Hey there, friends. Today we are tuning MIP to match your work. With admin rights, go to Organization > Set Up User Defined Fields. This is where you add the extra details your team cares about for vendors, customers, employees, purchase orders, AR invoices, and more. Use three levels on purpose: master records for Vendors, Customers, and Employees; document level for things like AR invoices or purchase orders; and line level when each row needs its own data. Pick the right type for the job—string, date, number, currency, yes/no, or a drop-down—and set defaults to save clicks and cut errors. The truth is, more fields can slow posting, reports, and filtering, so create only what you need. Keep it clean and your system stays fast. Use UDFs for the data that drives reporting, like grant codes, contract numbers, or special tags, so reviews make sense and reports line up with reality. Bonus tip: add a Vendor UDF to track the last W-9 received, and line-level UDFs to track credit card users and merchants on transactions. If you are tracking data outside MIP, ask us where it should live so you can stop chasing spreadsheets. Customize with confidence, one field at a time.
