When you select it, MIP combines detailed lines after you click Use Offsets or run a Distribution Code. The clutter goes away. You see neat totals instead of long, repetitive lines.
Why this helps. Reviews go faster. Posting feels calmer. You keep accuracy because MIP rolls up only what it should. Good to know: system-generated entries, fixed asset postings, and allocation transactions are always summarized, even if you do not check the box.
