Summarize transactions? What does that button even DO? – MCG’s MIPster the Tipster™

Hello friends. Let’s make your entries easy to read. In Transaction Entry, there is a check box called Summarize Transaction Entries. When you select it, MIP combines detailed lines after you click Use Offsets or run a Distribution Code. The clutter goes away. You see neat totals instead of long, repetitive lines.

Why this helps. Reviews go faster. Posting feels calmer. You keep accuracy because MIP rolls up only what it should. Good to know: system-generated entries, fixed asset postings, and allocation transactions are always summarized, even if you do not check the box.

Who this is for. Controllers, staff accountants, and grants teams at nonprofits and governments using MIP. If you are not on MIP, this tip will not fit your system.

Here is the tip. Turn on Summarize Transaction Entries when you want shorter, easier-to-review batches without losing detail behind the scenes. Your screen stays tidy and you save time.
